California Yampah

This deciduous herbaceous perennial, often found along streams, emerges from tubers to reach up to 5 feet tall when blooming. Its flowers are umbels of spherical clusters of small white flowers that have a delicate, lacy appearance above the feathery foliage.

This species is an important larval host plant for anise swallowtail butterflies. To create a thoughtful butterfly habitat, plant with a mixture of annuals and perennials so the adult butterflies have plenty of nectar sources accessible while they are breeding.Plant in full sun along the coast, grows well with Bee Plant, California Fescue or Meadow sedge, or Woodland strawberry.
