Chaparral Mallow
This chaparral eye-catcher is an attractive evergreen shrub with a pleasant rounded form that grows quickly to reach 3-16 ft. tall x 10 ft. wide. Long, slender, wand-like branches sport numerous
baby pink flowers in spring and summer, attracting hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies aplenty. Chaparral Mallow is also a larval host plant for West Coast Lady, and Northern White-Skipper
Prune back in late summer or fall if it gets too leggy. Chaparral Mallow prefers well draining soils, and is a great choice for sunny hillsides, where it helps stabilize the soil. Pairs well with milkweed, needlegrasses, Keckiella, Bluewitch Nightshade, Ceanothus, Chamise, and other chaparral species.
