‘UC Hybrid’ Monkeyflower
The ‘U.C. Hybrid’ monkeyflower is a vigorous, long-lived sub-shrub that grows ~2 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide with abundant burnt-orange colored flowers that bloom all summer long, providing valuable food for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. We grow ours from seed collected off of this cultivar, so ours is not the true cultivar and is subject to genetic and aesthetic variation!
In the garden, this is a great evergreen drought tolerant option for summer color in containers or pollinator gardens. To encourage new growth and flowers, it may be pinch pruned in the fall/winter, though a hard pruning should be avoided.
