Foothill Larkspur

This herbaceous perennial grows from 1.6 – 3.3 feet tall and is ideal for northern open woodland and grassland gardens.

Deeply lobed leaves are topped with dark blue, purple, light pink to white flowers in late spring. The flower stalks can hold from a few to over a hundred flowers. They will flower best with several hours of full sun in a coastal site. Ideal for mixed borders, hummingbird and pollinator gardens with grass perennials such as Yarrow, California poppies, Purple Needlegrass, Naked buckwheat, Sticky Monkeyflower, or Toyon. Can also be used as cut flowers.

This species is endemic to California and ssp. Hesperium is native to the North Coast Ranges.
