Common Sun Rose

Common Sun Rose or Peak Rushrose is a small summer semi-deciduous shrub, reaching 1.5 ft tall and wide. This is a California endemic species, native to dry, sandy or rocky slopes and ridges of coastal California and the western Sierra foothills between Mariposa and Tuolumne counties. Bright yellow five-petal blooms top sparsely leafed stems in spring.

Common Sun Rose needs very little water, and is best treated to no more than one deep watering per summer month once established. Tolerates serpentine soil. Plant Sun Rose with manzanitas, sages, Ceanothus, and yucca.
