Leafy Reed Grass
Leafy Reed Grass is a somewhat rare CA endemic perennial bunchgrass, ranked CNPS 4.2 due to its limited distribution along the northern coast ranges from Mendocino county northwards. Grows 1-2 feet tall and wide, with a beautiful fountain-like form, and tolerates a wide range of soils with good drainage.
Found in the forests and coastal scrublands, Leafy Reed Grass grows well with Seapink (Armeria maritima), Point Reyes Ceanothus (C. gloriosus), Clarkias, Yerba Buena, Coast Buttercup, and lupines. This is a great option for a lumpy lawn, or to provide texture to a coastal garden.
