Bolander’s Reedgrass
Bolander’s Reedgrass is a perennial clumping to rhizomatous grass, reaching 2-5 feet tall. Endemic to the coastal counties of northern California from Sonoma to Humboldt counties. Due to its limited range, Bolander’s Reedgrass is listed by the California Native Plant Society as 4.2-Fairly threatened in California.
Most often found growing in wet places–bogs, wet meadows, coastal forests and scrubland. Grows well in shade. Consider Bolander’s Reedgrass as a statement grass for a shady garden, and pair with other moisture-loving plants like Cardinal Monkeyflower, Elk Clover, and Thimbleberry.
