Sonoma brodiaea
Sonoma Brodiaea is a rare native perennial herb (geophyte) that grows in Central and Northern California, primarily in the North Coast and North Coast Range regions of Napa and Sonoma counties. Dormant in fall and winter, then springs up with a few deep green leaves and sparse star-like blooms of purple.
Ranked 1B.2: Plants Rare, Threatened or Endangered in California and Elsewhere; Moderately threatened in California. These were grown from seed, and take 2-4 years to produce flowers.
Grows best in containers or sunny, well draining, volcanic soils. Native to foothill woodland and valley grasslands. Great for butterflies!
