Hayfield tarweed

Hayfield tarweed is a native annual herb growing to 2 ft tall and 1 ft wide, found in the central valley and coastal regions of California.  The inflorescence are covered with glandular hairs and hold yellow daisy-like flower heads.

It produces tons of sweetly pungent blooms late in summer and often into fall.  Super for pollinators and butterflies who are missing the abundance of the early springtime flowers.  Annuals are also great for the over-all health of your garden as they cycle nutrients back to perennials, larger trees, and shrubs.

Deer proof, drought tolerant, and minimal amounts of water make this annual a great choice for any sunny garden.
